Follow Me As I Pursue My Dream Of Financial Independence

Need Found: New Journey Has Begun

For the last month or so I have been free from any website project at all, so I decided to educate myself a little more by reading The Millionaire Fastlane.

It is an incredibly eye opening book and taught me a lot. The inspiration from that book is fueling the project I’m about to tell you about.

Although only a month has transpired, my mind has been going crazy trying to come up with my next (and permanent) business venture. I’ve bounced around from too many ideas to the next, and now is the time to pick something and stick with it.… Read more

The Search For a Need Begins

My quest has officially begun for a need to fill. I finished reading the Millionaire Fastlane last night, and am ready to take the knowledge and wisdom I gained from it and put it to use.

Now that I’m basically free from any project, it is time for me to attempt to get a feel for what the market wants. I’m also trying to reflect on my strengths to determine how I can help people. I don’t want to fall into a trap of choosing the wrong business to get into.

I have to admit, this is a bit of a struggle for me.… Read more

Plans Have Changed, Starting Over

I had set out with the goal of creating 15 new quality articles for the networking site that I have been building with a co-worker of mine. I’m not going to get into details, but I am no longer working on that website. I have taken my content off the site and have handed the site over to my co-worker for him to have.

This was a big decision, but I feel it was the right move for me.

This gives me something I have not had in a very long time…a completely blank canvas from which to build a business.… Read more

My Thoughts on the “Millionaire Fastlane” Book

I recently ordered and received a copy of “The Millionaire Fastlane” by MJ DeMarco. This was highly recommended to me by a colleague, and it is not disappointing so far.

The First Half

I’m about halfway through so far and I have to say, Part 4, the part about the Slowlane, sums up so many things I’ve always thought to be true about life. MJ is brilliant in these few chapters of the book. It’s finally great to have many of these things I’ve believed confirmed by someone with authority.

In fact, when I look back at my About page, that I wrote a few months ago, it’s like MJ was reading my mind :) (MJ, if you ever read this, no royalties are needed for stealing my thoughts ;) .… Read more

Twitter Strategy For Promoting My Website

It’s pretty tough when you’ve got a new site up and going with enough articles that could potentially interest your readers, but have absolutely no idea how to get them to your site without going out and spamming forums, blogs, or wherever else you’re targeted audience is.

People are very sensitive to web spam and they will run like the wind blows when they sense it (sorry for the Forest Gump line there). It’s no different than the door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman. Seriously. Who wants to talk to people who are trying to push you into buying something? You just know those people just want your money.… Read more

Journal #2, November 11, 2012 – Learning Twitter Marketing

Article production is still good. I’ve cranked out 5 articles now since I began my personal content creation challenge, and not planning on slowing down. Aiming for 15 new articles by December 5th. At this rate, I should have no problem. I’ve cranked out 5 articles in the last 6 days, so I’m running at a pace for about 25 articles before that date.

I’m starting to think about promotion as well, to get a little traffic coming in. I’m considering ways to get the word out about our networking site. I really want to promote the subnetting program I created this month because I think it’s a really useful tool.… Read more

Journal #1, November 7, 2012 – Making Progress!

In my last post I set a goal for creating 15 quality articles between November 5th and December 5th. I’m happy to report that 3 days in, I’ve already cranked out 3 articles. Good articles too, with diagrams and pictures.

I’ve also started a new category to the blog called Journal. In here I plan on providing short little posts like these of day-to-day progress (or lack of) that I make toward my goals.

I will try to post on this every 2-3 days. My plan for the next few days is to try to start getting links coming into my networking site.… Read more

Latest Project, New Influences, & Plan For Content Creation

Lately I’ve been coding a small program in JavaScript for my networking website that will test visitors on their subnetting skills. This has taken me almost two weeks but I believe it will be a very valuable tool for those who are learning networking and should attract a lot of links to my site.

I’ve also been checking out a lot of material by MJ DeMarco lately (author of Millionaire Fastlane). I haven’t read his book yet, but plan on getting it ASAP. There is however, a lot of info on his website, forum, and all over the web so, I already know what much of his book is about.  … Read more

Other Possible Avenues Of Income?

Ever since I shut down my baseball website, I have felt much more free with my future plans. I don’t feel as restricted by my obligations and upkeep from that website.

So in the last couple of weeks I have really had a chance to brainstorm about where I want to go with my website business. My primary plan is to work on the Networking Basics website that I’m building with a co-worker of mine. My main goal with that website is to help people obtain specific certifications that will help them either break into the IT industry or obtain a better position within the industry.… Read more

Income Report For September 2012

Well, here it is. My last income report until I start earning income again. At least more than a few pennies per month anyway. As I mentioned in my last post, I shut down my baseball equipment website due to it tanking after all the latest Google algorithm updates.

I did however retain my domain name of baseball-equipment-review.com as is reflected in the GoDaddy purchase in the report below. Who knows? I may use it again some day if I ever decide to get back into that niche.
