Follow Me As I Pursue My Dream Of Financial Independence

Latest Project, New Influences, & Plan For Content Creation

Lately I’ve been coding a small program in JavaScript for my networking website that will test visitors on their subnetting skills. This has taken me almost two weeks but I believe it will be a very valuable tool for those who are learning networking and should attract a lot of links to my site.

I’ve also been checking out a lot of material by MJ DeMarco lately (author of Millionaire Fastlane). I haven’t read his book yet, but plan on getting it ASAP. There is however, a lot of info on his website, forum, and all over the web so, I already know what much of his book is about.  Just from what I’ve read already, this guy’s got some really valuable insights into building businesses.

He emphasizes finding pain in a market, and fixing that pain with your product or service. He’s not a huge fan of the “do what you love and the money will follow” way of thinking. I have to agree. Like he says, the market doesn’t matter how much you love what you’re doing. If you fix a problem, it doesn’t matter.

He suggests rather than doing what you are passionate about, get passionate about solving problems and helping people, then you can have all the time in the world to do what you’re passionate about. You also won’t risk poisoning what you love with business risk and stress. Good stuff, and I can’t wait to read the whole book.

Another blog I’ve been following is Make Money With No Work by Patrick Meninga. This is a guy who built up a website about holistic solutions to addiction, and wound up selling it for $200K. He pushes the strategy building one website, making it big, and making it the best in your niche. I like this strategy and I think this is the route I need to focus on.

I know in the last post that I talked about ways of diversifying my income, but I need to try and limit my directions to basically one. I need to use laser focus and dedicate all of my time and energy into one website for a decent block of time. I need to give myself a chance to succeed.

So my plan is to crank out content at a rapid pace for the next month. I want to see how many articles I can crank out in a month. I’m not setting a goal because I don’t really know what is possible for me yet. I’m going to work my butt off to see how much content I can create for the networking website I’m working on with my co-worker. I plan on starting this on Monday, November 4, 2012 and will post again in December regarding this personal challenge to see what I accomplished.

Time to get busy!

Hey, I’m here from Make Money from No Work. I wanted to suggest that you set a specific goal for yourself, even if it’s only one or two articles a week. That way, you have no excuses. “I will write three articles this week no matter what” is a lot stronger and demanding than saying, “I will write as many articles as I can.” Just a suggestion. Hope you meet every goal in your life!

Thanks Maria, you are probably right about that. Ok, you got it. I’ll set a target of 15 good, quality articles between November 5th – December 5th.
